I found a "Start Menu" at the Microsoft Store

I recently wandered into my local Microsoft Store.  It was nice and colorful, and they had a large projector in the back of the store displaying Windows 8 Desktop. After a quick glance, I noticed the words "Start Menu." I immediately had to ask about it.  Here is what it looked like. That looks like a convenient option.  I found out that it is just a tool bar that you can add to the taskbar, which has been a feature of Windows for a while now. It is just very interesting that it is still called a "Start Menu" by the Windows File System. In order to create this you need to enable hidden folders and then create a new tool bar like this:   Personally, I went one step farther and just made it go to "Programs" so I have one less click when accessing the menu.  I hadn't heard about this before, but I can't imagine that I am the first person to write a blog post about it.

Why Best Buy Mobile

*********NOTE********************* This post was based on current information as of July 2013. All offers and policies are subject to change. ***************************** I have worked for Best Buy Mobile for almost four years now and it has become my career. This post is about why I believe that Best Buy Mobile offers one of the best options for anyone looking to purchase a cell phone. First of all, I believe that everyone should buy from the place where they get the most value. By value I mean the best combination of price, convenience, and customer service. These factors are going to be different for different people. Not everyone is going to buy from one place and that's fine: competition is a good thing. However, here are some reasons that I believe that many, many people will find their best value at Best Buy when looking for a cell phone. Price- Saving money is good for everyone. 95% of the time Best Buy will have lower price on the same phone than a carrier branded store....

New Hard Drives and a Chance to Try Windows 8

Several hard drives were recently donated to me by a very kind gentleman and this has allowed me to start testing and playing with a lot of technology that I couldn't do before without risking my production machine and my data. I have been wanting to blog about my technology experiences for a while and I think this will get me going.  First of all, I threw two new hard drives into my computer and installed Windows 8.  Next I went into disk manager and added the second one as a mirror.  I browsed the web and did some hard drive benchmarks.  So far, Windows 8 is running very fast.  My goal is to just use it and not worry about breaking it.  I am not planning to install very many applications and I plan to keep 100% of my data in the cloud while testing.  Just for fun, I turned the hard drive mirroring off and then on again.  I want to set up a RAID0 but "New Striped Volume" is greyed out in disk manager right now.  Anyway, here are my hard drive benchmarks.  I am noticing t...
