Why Best Buy Mobile

I have worked for Best Buy Mobile for almost four years now and it has become my career. This post is about why I believe that Best Buy Mobile offers one of the best options for anyone looking to purchase a cell phone.

First of all, I believe that everyone should buy from the place where they get the most value. By value I mean the best combination of price, convenience, and customer service. These factors are going to be different for different people. Not everyone is going to buy from one place and that's fine: competition is a good thing. However, here are some reasons that I believe that many, many people will find their best value at Best Buy when looking for a cell phone.

  1. Price- Saving money is good for everyone. 95% of the time Best Buy will have lower price on the same phone than a carrier branded store. In fact, almost every third party cell phone retailer will have a better price than a corporate store. Plus we have deals that no one else offers.
  2. No Mail in rebates- Many carriers stores continue to require customers to pay a high price in the store and wait for a mail in rebate to get the advertised price. Best Buy never has mail in rebates.
  3. No restocking fee- Carrier stores almost always require a $35 dollar restocking fee for any return or exchange. Best Buy never has restocking fees.
  4. Low Price Guarantee- just in case someone else is running a good deal, we will match it.
  5. Customer service- If you are anti-social, then bestbuy.com might be a better option for you. But cell phones and their plans are complicated and we have a knowledgeable force of blue shirt employees ready to assist you.
  6. Non-commissioned sales.
  7. Teaching and training to go with your phone. We will take the time to set it up and show you how to use it. We can also transfer your information to your new phone and show you how to back it up.
  8. All the phones and plans in one place: this might not apply to you if you are keeping the same service but its a huge benefit for many people looking at other options. Some day it could apply to you and it will certainly apply to someone you know.
  9. Geek Squad Protection- Phones break all the time. Some people will never, ever pay for a warranty or insurance. We get that; if its not for you let's move on. But millions of consumers want the peace of mind to know that if their precious phone gets a shattered screen or spilled on they won't have to shell out hundreds of dollars for a replacement. The Geek Squad provides the best possible coverage with no deductibles and no claim limits.
  10. Trade in your old phone- No, we don't pay as much as you will get on eBay or Craig's List but it sure is more convenient and Best Buy has very competitive trade offers.
  11. Join the Trade In Plus program- No one else helps you lock in the value of your phone for the future. Just as a bonus for buying the Geek Squad Protection you get an $50 when you trade in your phone next time.
  12. Earn Reward Zone points, use a Reward Zone credit card, or take advantage of any other current promotions, which often include bonus gift cards.

Clearly, not all of these benefits apply to every single person. You might not need help installing Facebook or setting up email on your phone. But your mom, or co-worker, and most technologically "average" Americans might just need a little extra technology help and they are thankful for it. Why not recommend that they come to one place with the best deals and get everything set up all at once?
